My suggestion is to read. Read the daily newspaper, read news magazines, read popular magazines, read classic novels, read romance novels, read science fiction and adventure novels, read children's books, read bestsellers, read Wikipedia, read your church's newsletter, read the backs of cereal boxes. Read! Before long, you will begin to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff. As for one's own writing, "The wastebasket is a writer's best friend." ~Isaac Bashevis Singer.
