Are these sentences correct:
1-They freed him with enough water and food to get back home.
2-They set him free with enough water and food to get back home.

Meaning; They freed him, giving him enough water and food to get back home.

Yes.

Why is the header "Dangling"?

Thanks Pogo.
Well, 'They set him free with enough food' sounds to me like they used enough food to set him free, or they set him and the food free!

'With' here seems to mean 'giving him'. I thought that was not really one of the meanings of 'with'. Can you give me another example where 'with' is used in this sense?

Thanks Ceebee.
I am not sure I understand.

They didn't free him in order that he may have enough water and food to get back home.
They freed him and gave him enough food.

PS. I thought about this some more. Actually, if I am not mistaken 'so that' can mean 'in order that' and also 'in such a way that' and now I think this is the meaning you intended.

They freed him in a way that he had enough water and food to get home.

But could you give me another sentence where 'with' is used in this way?

I sent my son to camp with enough money in his pocket to buy snacks.

She kissed him with enough enthusiasm so he would want to ask her out again.

He pushed the rock with enough force so it would fall off the edge of the cliff.

Thanks a lot CeeBee.

Now that you give me these examples, everything seems so obvious. All of these sound natural to me, but the sentences I asked about didn't. Now everything has fallen into place.

Cheers!
