Dearest and Most Omnipotent Mudge, could you put into effect an internal messaging system on grammarmudge?

Can there be degrees of omnipotence?

There is none like TheMudge, surely. By the way, I support your request.

Sorry, folks, I can't do that. As noted many times before, this site is a template-based website that I maintain by subscribing to site-hosting from CitySlide. It allows me to create pages within the confines of the host's templates – message boards, photo albums, articles sections, Q&A pages, polls, etc. I lack the expertise to build from scratch, and that's why I subscribe to this service. Messaging is not one of my options. I understand that many sites host messaging and chat services such as you request. Perhaps one of you would like to set something like that up and use The Grammar Curmudgeon as one of your vehicles for inviting others to join. I would certainly permit promoting the service here, but I cannot provide it. Once you get your "messaging" site up and running, I will gladly supply a link to it. I do have one caveat. Hosting and maintaining any ongoing web enterprise requires considerable expenditure of time. If it is to be successful, it is not something you can just set up and expect to "run itself." Even with most of the hard work done for me by CitySlide, I spend many hours each week working on and watching over this site. If you use any kind of hosting service, also expect some costs to be involved. ---------- Rich Turner (The Curmudgeon Himself)

I'm willing to create and maintain a Yahoo or Google Group for everyone interested. Messages can be exchanged via a chatboard and photos can be posted.

CeeBee: If you want to launch such an enterprise, you can definitely count on promotional support from here. We can discuss via private e-mail if you like. We're heading home (alas) from Maine tomorrow (Saturday). Next week my Internet connectivity should be back to normal; our connection here has been extremely erratic. ---------- Rich Turner (The Curmudgeon Himself)
